Amaranth Red Callaloo Organic (Seeds)

The leaves of Semences Nordiques' organic Red Callaloo amaranth are used in "callaloo", a Jamaican dish. When the plants are young, the leaves are edible in the same way as spinach.

At maturity, the plant easily reaches 6 feet: the branches are then used to make bright red bouquets. Finally, amaranth grains are harvested and cooked in the same way as quinoa.

Gardening tips for Red Callaloo organic amaranth from Semences Nordiques

Sow seeds 2-4 weeks before last frost at 1/8" depth. Transplant with 18"-24" between plants when the days are warm and the risk of frost has passed.

Amaranth can also be sown directly in the garden, but do so as early as possible as this plant requires a long season.
