KOYO Aramé seaweed comes from the Pacific coast of central Japan. 100 years ago, this seaweed was used as a sacred offering at the famous Ise sanctuary, where it is still harvested in the traditional way. Each year, in early spring, local fishermen gather at low tide or dive into the shallow coastal waters to pick the young aramé leaves. They are then finely shredded, thoroughly rinsed and sun-dried before being packed.
