Oak: Bach's flower against despondency
The Bach flower, called Oak, comes from the oak tree, a species found throughout the northern hemisphere. It can be found from the coldest latitudes to tropical Asia. Oaks are genetically highly polymorphic, which explains their great adaptability. Its great strength also enables it to produce shoots from buds that have lain dormant for many years.
The oak is a fast-growing tree that can reach several dozen meters in height.
With its single, straight trunk, it represents strength and nobility. Its leaves are lobed, with rounded tips for the white oak and pointed tips for the red oak. It produces acorns containing a seed which, depending on the species, can take between 6 and 18 months to ripen. The oak is a tree that easily exceeds 500 years of age, and is home to many species of insect. Even after its death, the oak continues to feed them. It is often referred to as a biodiversity hotspot.
