Centaury, the Bach flower of positivity
Centaury belongs to the Gentianaceae family. It is a herbaceous plant whose flowering tops are used in aromatherapy, phytotherapy and gemmotherapy. Little knapweed, also known as Erythraea, is a slow-growing plant. It is often undetectable among other plants, as its flowers are frequently folded. However, when the sun shines on them, they bloom, revealing their dazzling beauty. Centaury prefers moist environments and grows mainly on the edges of woods and in meadows, in clayey or silica-rich soil.
On a purely botanical level, Little Centaury has a generally solitary stem that can reach 50 cm in height, branching at the top. Its smooth, oval, light-green leaves form a rosette at the base of the plant, while those on the stem are opposite, 2 by 2. In summer, Centaurea flowers blossom into stars of 5 petals and as many stamens. In full sunlight, they form pretty pink bouquets at the tips of the branches.
