Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; eif you have peptic ulcer disease, regional enteritis or ulcerative colitis. Before using heme iron polypeptide, tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are using methyldopa or other iron-containing products. Inform your pharmacist or physician before using this product if you suffer from hemochromatosis, other types of anemia, repeated blood transfusions or gastric/intestinal problems.
Iron supplements may reduce the absorption of drugs such as the antibiotic tetracycline, penicillamine, cefdinir, chloramphenicol, levothyroxine, levodopa, and quinolone antibiotics; therefore, doses of these drugs should be spaced as far apart as possible. This product may interfere with certain laboratory tests (including stool blood tests), possibly causing false test results; ensure that laboratory personnel and all physicians are aware that you are taking this product. This product should not be used if you have certain medical conditions.
Contraindications : A very severe allergic reaction to this product is rare; do not use if you are allergic to bovine products.
Known adverse reactions: Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, stomach upset, and abdominal cramps may occur. Iron may darken stools, an effect which is not harmful. Discontinue use in case of hypersensitivity.
Keep out of reach of children. There is enough drug in this package to seriously harm a child.
