Calcium ascorbate

Calcium ascorbate is considered a buffered mineral ascorbate; it is therefore less acidic. Mineral ascorbates are often recommended to people with gastrointestinal problems when taking simple ascorbic acid (vitamin C). By taking mineral salts of ascorbic acid, both ascorbic acid and the mineral are well absorbed, so it's important to consider the dose of the mineral that accompanies ascorbic acid when taking high doses of mineral ascorbates.

Pure calcium ascorbate provides around 114 mg calcium and 884 mg vitamin C per 1000 mg. The recommended dietary calcium intake for adults is 1000-1200 mg/day. Total daily calcium intake should not exceed the maximum tolerable intake of 2500 mg/day.
