Cistus is a shrub native mainly to the Mediterranean region. It grows in dry, sunny soils and has the particularity of regenerating easily, especially after a fire. Its leaves produce a gum (labdanum) used in perfumery for its warm, persistent amber scent.
Cistus essential oil is used in cosmetics as an anti-aging agent for mature, tired and wrinkled skin.
