The Coriolus from New Roots Herbal is standardized to 40% polysaccharides. Two of the water-soluble polysaccharides, PSK and PSP, have a reputation for boosting the immune system, which has made this mushroom species popular for adjunctive therapy in cancer treatments.
The Coriolus versicolor, also known as "turkey tail" (turkey tail) in North America, is prized by herbalists and gaining popularity worldwide for its therapeutic properties. Ours is grown in shade-free, climate-controlled greenhouses without herbicides, pesticides or heavy metal contamination.
New Roots Herbal's Coriolus Versicolor is a hot-water-extracted medicinal mushroom formula standardized to contain 40% polysaccharides (500 mg per capsule). Hot water extraction is essential for a high-quality, effective mushroom product, and is the traditional Asian method of extraction. In the whole mushroom, the polysaccharides are bound by the indigestible cell wall composed of chitin; the chitin must be dissolved in hot water to gently release the medicinal components, the fungal polysaccharides. Conversely, grinding the fungus can cause damage to the long-chain polysaccharides and fails to remove the indigestible chitin (fiber), limiting the amount of therapeutic constituents that can be adapted per capsule. Standardization ensures that the final product contains a constant amount of polysaccharides to enable delivery of a therapeutic dose.
Two of the water-soluble polysaccharides, PSK and PSP, are reputed to be able to boost the immune system, which has popularized this mushroom species for adjunctive therapy in cancer treatments. Research in Japan has also demonstrated reduced toxicity of systemic chemotherapy, and longer periods of remission.
