Flor-Essence® Herbal Blend is a synergistic formula of 8 plants, including burdock root, red clover and slippery elm bark, made famous by Rene Caisse, a humanitarian nurse from Bracebridge, Ontario. In the 1920s, she discovered a traditional Ojibway recipe that played an important role in their folk medicine.
Impressed by its effects, Rene Caisse devoted her life to researching and perfecting the formula, and providing it to those who came to her for help. Her work on this remarkable formula attracted the attention of Dr. Charles Brusch, who had been President John F. Kennedy's personal physician.
Together, they perfected the fomula, which was later popularized by Vancouver health educator and radio host Elaine Alexander. Her commitment to promoting this herbal tea prompted Dr. Brusch to pass on the rights to the formula to Elaine.
In 1992, Elaine authorized Flora™ to manufacture the herbal tea under the name "Flor-Essence®". It is the only version of this product on the market whose packaging is authorized to bear the signature of Elaine Alexander to guarantee its historical authenticity.
Over the last few decades, more than 4 million bottles of Flor-Essence® have been consumed in over 25 countries worldwide.
This dry blend is very economical, as it can be prepared at home and stored in the refrigerator. The concentrate is used in the same way as the liquid blend. One box of Flor-Essence® Dry Herbal Blend is equivalent to six 500 ml bottles of liquid extract.
