This plant was used 4000 BC. In Egypt, jars of lavender were found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamen. Lavender was commonly used by the Romans to perfume water. Roman troops carried lavender with them to treat wounded and exhausted soldiers. They used it to heal skin and dress wounds.
