Neroli is the flower of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium var. amara or Bigaradia). The essential oil extracted from it is widely used in perfumery for its refreshing, warm scent with sweet, flowery notes, and is classified in the Hesperidae olfactory family. Its popularity is due to a princess, Anne-Marie de la Tremoille, Princess of Nerola, who used it as a perfume for her gloves and bath. In cosmetics, Neroli essential oil is recommended for sensitive and reactive skin for its gentleness, mature skin for its toning effect and dry skin for its regenerating properties.
Neroli essential oil is used in aromatherapy to calm nerves and relieve headaches.
