Bones are wonderful. They provide the framework for our bodies and protect us in specific places. Bones also have several important biological roles. These include creating blood, storing nutrients and acting as a detoxification center. It's important to support bone strength and growth. This is especially true for women, who are four times more likely to suffer from osteoporosis.

As women age, changes in estrogen levels can affect their bone mass.. This often goes unnoticed, as osteoporosis is a silent disease. 

Strong Bones is a broad-spectrum formula for preventing osteoporosis. The strength of Strong Bones begins with microcrystalline hydroxyapatite (MCH), the most widely available form of calcium for human supplementation, which is also rich in protein and phosphorus. It's the same type of calcium found in humans. Our HAMC comes from pasture-fed New Zealand cattle, certified free of antibiotics, herbicides, pesticides and mad cow disease. It is freeze-dried to ensure the highest possible quality.

The amino acids L-lysine and L-proline improve calcium absorption and support collagen production, with the help of vitamin C. Glucosamine sulfate is a natural component of healthy cartilage and connective tissue production.

Magnesium is included to facilitate calcium absorption.

Zinc, copper, manganese and boron are essential for bone growth, collagen formation and the maintenance of strong connective tissue, as well as promoting calcium retention.

Vitamin B1 (thiamine) is essential to the formula for supporting carbohydrate metabolism and for its role in energy production at the cellular level.

Vitamin K2 is included for its dual role in bone production and preventing bone loss.

The most absorbable form of magnesium, diglycinate, has replaced magnesium oxide because of its superior absorption. Silica-rich horsetail promotes the strength and elasticity of connective tissue.

Curcumin with 95% curcuminoids is among the new ingredients in Strong Bones. With a long history of use as an anti-inflammatory, recent studies have demonstrated its strength in the fight against osteoporosis.

Lutein extract supports levels of this carotenoid, which has been shown to be in short supply in women suffering from osteoporosis.

Grapefruit seed extract with 95% proanthocyanidins has also been shown to increase bone density in animal tests.

Our Strong Bones formula also includes green tea with 75% epicatechin gallate (EGCG). According to studies carried out in Hong Kong, EGCG in green tea increased the activity of a key enzyme that promotes bone growth by 79%. EGCG also significantly increased bone mineralization levels in cells, fortifying bones. Scientists also demonstrated that high concentrations of EGCG blocked the activity of a type of cell (osteoclasts) that destroys or weakens bone. Lycopene, a phytochemical found in tomatoes, protects bone-forming cells from oxidative stress.

Studies in the USA and the Netherlands have shown that folic acid supplementation helped prevent bone fractures in the elderly. The coenzyme form of vitamin B12, methylcobalamin, completes the formula, as studies at Tufts University have identified methylcobalamin as a modifiable risk factor in bone mineral density research.
