Bergamot is the fruit of the bergamot tree, not to be confused with "bergamot lemon", the commercial name of a lemon cultivar (citrus limon) from the Marrakech region. It is produced in Italy in the Reggio Calabria region on a narrow strip of the Calabrian coast, along the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas, where its cultivation still supports a small local industry.
Bergamot essential oil is used in aromatherapy for its calming action and to help relieve headaches.
