Essential oil obtained by steam distillation of fresh rosa damascena petals. It takes 5,000 tons of petals to produce one liter, making it the most precious oil there is. Damask rose is an ancient flower.
Probably originating in Central Asia, fossils have been found dating back 40 million years. It is grown mainly in Bulgaria, Morocco and Turkey.
A symbol of love and purity, it is also a symbol of life, of the spiritual path to the Divine, of silence and secrecy. It is used in perfumery, balms, creams, face lotions and soaps.
