Description

Star Anise, or Badian, was discovered and introduced to Europe by Marco Polo on his return from his travels in the 13th and 14th centuries. The star-shaped fruit of the badian tree, it is picked green to be dried in the sun, turning reddish-brown in color. Well known for its aromatic properties, star anise is used in many pastries, spice blends, herbal teas and aniseed-flavored aperitifs (Anisette, Pastis, Ouzo or Sambuca). Star Anise essential oil is obtained by distilling the seeds.

Use

Star Anise essential oil is used in aromatherapy as an antispasmodic to relieve colic, indigestion, bloating and abdominal cramps.

Dosage
Topical (Adults): Mix 1 to 2 drops in 1 teaspoon (5ml) of vegetable oil; apply to the stomach, 3 times a day.
