The camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora) is a species of tree in the laurel family (Lauraceae). Camphor essential oil is obtained by distillation of its wood. Native to Asia, from China to Taiwan and Japan, it has spread to other continents, where it is sometimes an invasive species.
