A little history
In 1990, a medical microbiologist from the University of Antwerp discovered that choline is the ideal partner to stabilize orthosilicic acid for optimal biological activity in the human body. Four years later, Bio Minerals NV was founded to develop choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid (ch-OSA®) for use in dietary supplements, and to further explore the potential health benefits of the complex to be marketed in the United States in 1995 under the brand name BioSil™ vegan liquid drops. In 2004, BioSil™ was introduced in Canada and was available not only in vegan liquid drops, but also in vegan capsules.
Not just tested, but clinically proven!
The benefits of BioSil™ are proven, not just tested! In unbiased, independent clinical studies conducted by leading European, American and British academic researchers. These studies are double-blind, placebo-controlled and randomized. In other words, using the gold standard of scientific research, international scientists have documented statistically significant and clinically relevant results for hair, skin, nails, joints and bones. And that's great news, because it means BioSil™ is proven to work.
These studies were conducted with BioSil™ products. The results cannot and should not be applied to other brands. In 2005, European university researchers (Barel et al) published a study involving BioSil™. This was the first ever double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study showing that a dietary supplement could improve skin, hair and nails. Two years later, a second team of independent researchers (Wickett et al.) found that BioSil™ supplementation significantly improved hair strength, thickness and elasticity. In 2008, another study (Spector et al.) concluded that BioSil™ supplementation increases bone collagen production and increases bone mineral density at the hip. That same year, BioSil™ also won Better Nutrition's Best of Beauty award. This was the first of many industry and press awards BioSil™ would win. Finally, in 2017, researchers Geusens et al. demonstrated that BioSil™ improves knee function and reduces joint discomfort in men.
