The breakfast is our first meal of the day, as it follows our overnight fast (de-fasting). At the same time, it's a good rest for the digestive system. As we all know, the reality of life today is very different from one person to another. I can tell you that in my naturopathic practice, I meet many people who don't eat breakfast in the morning, or who eat while driving with a coffee in hand.

And questions like "Why are there mornings when I'm not hungry?" come up again and again. There are many answers to this question, but here's one: if the previous evening's meal was long to digest, you can expect not to be hungry in the morning, especially if the meal was late in the evening. So, the classic way to start the day is with a coffee, which not only gives you energy, but can also curb your hunger.

On the other hand, if hunger isn't there, you'll need a snack to get you through to dinner, as the quality of mental concentration is bound to be reduced by hunger. Planning a snack will prevent you from rushing to the first carbohydrate-rich food dispenser, which could have an impact on blood sugar levels.

  • Squeeze half a lemon
  • Mix the lemon juice with a cup ofwarm water (the liver appreciates heat)
  • A teaspoon of maple syrup (optional)
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)
  • The water should not be too hot, as this will cancel out the important vitamins contained in the lemon.
  • Drink in the morning or on an empty stomach.
