We all enjoy the beautiful sunshine and the idea of shortening our clothes to get our essential and therapeutic vitamin D... However, when we are less covered and our skin is hot, we attract more of the sun's rays, and also mosquitoes!
To help you enjoy this beautiful season without overloading your skin with irritating chemicals, I've come up with 2 natural recipes below that I've concocted over the years! They'll help you prolong the pleasure of your outdoor activities, simply and naturally:
After-sun lotionTo invigorate your skin and maximize vitamin D absorption;
Mosquito repellentThis non-irritating formula, which contains no harmful products or citronella, also soothes the skin. after stings!
My after-sun lotion
Ingredients
30 ml aloe vera gel
20 ml calendula oil
20 ml avocado oil
30 drops Lavender essential oil
15 drops Peppermint essential oil
15 drops Italian Helichrysum essential oil (or Hô Wood for an economical option)
Approach
Mix everything in a 100 ml glass bottle (preferably tinted, to preserve your oils), with a spray cap.
Simply take with you on outdoor activities, then spray the lotion onto your skin to soothe, refresh and nourish!
My mosquito repellent
Ingredients
20 ml aloe vera gel
20 ml liquid coconut oil
20 ml lavender water (orpurified water for a more economical option)
2 ml ofrose geranium essential oil
2 mlessential oil of Lemon Eucalyptus
1 mlTea Tree essential oil (Tea tree/ Melaleuca)
Approach
Mix everything in a 100 ml glass bottle (preferably tinted, to preserve your oils), with a spray cap.
Take your bottle with you wherever you go, and when the mosquitoes come out (or to relieve a bite): "a lick here and a lick there", and you're done!
