A tutorial for making healthy popcorn yourself

Popcorn is a gourmet snack that has been making a comeback in grocery and health food stores in recent years. While popcorn, or popcorn used to be rather ominous, this is no longer the case with the new, healthier versions featuring quality ingredients. Indeed, when popped in a stable oil and topped with healthy seasonings, the finished product offers a very healthy snack, rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients. Popcorn is easy to prepare at home for a healthy, quick and tasty snack!

So, for your next home movie night or afternoon snack, try this homemade popcorn recipe. Preparing popcorn yourself ensures the quality of the ingredients while limiting the amount of waste produced. Maybe you'll feel like taking this popcorn to work yourself, or slipping some into the kids' lunchboxes?

Preparation steps

3- Once the corn has popped, add 1/3 cup of popcorn. Close the lid and remove the pot from the heat for 30 seconds, leaving the element on over medium heat. This step is crucial, as it heats all the corn kernels evenly, so that they pop simultaneously.

4- Once the 30 seconds have elapsed, return the pot to the element. The corn will begin to pop rapidly. During cooking, shake the pot once or twice to distribute the oil and allow the kernels to touch the bottom of the pan. Keep the lid in place throughout this step.

5- When the popping sounds are more than two seconds apart, the corn is ready. There's no need to cook it any longer to catch the last kernels, as the popcorn may burn.

6- Transfer the popcorn to a large, deep bowl.

7- Pour avocado oil (or clarified butter) over the popcorn. Add the nutritional yeast and Himalayan salt (or any other desired seasoning).
