Maybe you'll feel like taking this popcorn to work yourself, or slipping some into the kids' lunchboxes?
To prepare : 2 minutes
Cooking time : 5 minutes
Serves : 2 à 4
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons cold-pressed virgin coconut oil
- 1/3 cup of organic popcorn
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil or clarified butter (ghee)
- 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
- Himalayan salt or Andean pink salt to taste
- Other seasoning suggestions
- Dried dill and freshly grated lime zest
- Cajun spices
- Sugar and cinnamon
- Other seasoning suggestions
Preparation steps
1- Melt cold-pressed virgin coconut oil in a saucepan over medium heat.2- Add one or two organic popcorn. Leave uncovered until the corn pops.
3- Once the corn has popped, add 1/3 cup of popcorn. Close the lid and remove the pot from the heat for 30 seconds, leaving the element on over medium heat. This step is crucial, as it heats all the corn kernels evenly, so that they pop simultaneously.
4- Once the 30 seconds have elapsed, return the pot to the element. The corn will begin to pop rapidly. During cooking, shake the pot once or twice to distribute the oil and allow the kernels to touch the bottom of the pan. Keep the lid in place throughout this step.
5- When the popping sounds are more than two seconds apart, the corn is ready. There's no need to cook it any longer to catch the last kernels, as the popcorn may burn.
6- Transfer the popcorn to a large, deep bowl.
7- Pour avocado oil (or clarified butter) over the popcorn. Add the nutritional yeast and Himalayan salt (or any other desired seasoning).
8- Brew your own popcorn and eat guilt-free!
Enjoy!
