Winter puts our skin to the test: cold, wind, heating, lack of light. A cocktail of elements that makes our complexion tired in addition to a dehydrated epidermis. With the arrival of spring, the skin needs renewal to regain its radiance and balance.
Objective: eliminate accumulated toxins, revive the radiance of the complexion and prepare the skin for sunny days.
Exfoliate your skin when spring arrives
In winter, the skin thickens to protect itself from the cold, dead cells accumulate, dulling the complexion and slowing down cell renewal. Exfoliation helps unclog pores, activate microcirculation, stimulate cell renewal, brighten the complexion and improve the absorption of treatments.
Choose fine-grained formulas for normal to combination or sensitive skin with Druide’s Biolove gentle exfoliant or the exfoliant Zorah's Xfoliamber.
Frequency and precautions
- 2 times a week for normal skin and 1 time a week for sensitive skin.
- Always moisturize well after your exfoliation by applying a hydrating mask such as Nordora Biointensive restorative night mask, specially designed for our winters.
- Avoid the sun after exfoliation and apply good sun protection such as Sunly tinted sun stick from Attitude.
Spring cure of detox masks
After winter, the skin has accumulated toxins and excess sebum to protect itself from dryness, which is why the treatment is essential to help purify, balance and give a boost of radiance to the complexion.
Which masks to favor?
- Clay masks to absorb impurities and mattify with the Detox mask with Manicouagan clay from Natuku Minerals
- Activated charcoal masks to deeply detoxify
- Moisturizing masks based on hyaluronic acid, aloe vera or honey to nourish and soothe after purification like that of Antipodes with Manuka honey
Tips for maximizing efficiency
- Apply a mask after exfoliation for better penetration.
- Do not let a clay mask dry completely (moisten with orange blossom or rose spray).
- Combine two types of masks in multi-masking (e.g.: clay on the T zone, moisturizer on the cheeks).
Essentials for glowing skin in spring
We lighten our routine to let our skin breathe! In winter, we favor rich textures, in spring, we adopt lighter formulas. You must therefore find the right balance between purification and hydration.
Purifying products
- Gentle purifying and soothing cleansers (chamomile, aloe, clay).
- Serums moisturizers and radiance boost based on vitamin C.
- Balancing tonic lotions (e.g.: rose water to soothe, witch hazel water to tighten pores or purifying cooler water for an even complexion.)
Moisturizing products
- Light gels and light creams rather than heavy creams.
- Precious oils with a satin effect for a glow likemoringa oil from Nia Pure.
- Moisturizing mists to refresh the skin during the day as the glacial water of Natuku.
Protect your skin every day
- Integrate a sun protection SPF 30 to 50, even on cloudy days.
- Choose light, non-comedogenic sunscreens.
Diet and its impact on skin radiance in spring
The skin is a reflection of our diet: what we eat influences its hydration, elasticity and radiance. After winter, when the diet is often richer and less varied, it is essential to provide suitable nutrients to revitalize the skin. A balanced diet, rich in antioxidants and water, allows you to regain a fresh and luminous complexion.
Antioxidants to fight toxins and give radiance
Colorful fruits and vegetables (rich in beta-carotene and vitamin C):
- Carrots, sweet potatoes, apricots → promote a natural tanned complexion.
- Strawberries, kiwis, citrus fruits → boost collagen production.
- Spinach, broccoli, red peppers → rich in vitamin C and iron for oxygenated skin.
Essential fatty acids to nourish and protect the skin
Omega-3 and omega-6 help maintain good hydration and reduce skin inflammation.
Sources:
- Oily fish (salmon, mackerel, sardines).
- Chia seeds, flax nuts.
- Avocado, olive oil and walnut oil.
Probiotics and Fermented Foods for a Healthy Microbiota
A balanced intestinal flora is essential for healthy skin.
Favor:
- Plain yogurt, kefir and kombucha.
- Sauerkraut, kimchi and miso.
Zinc and selenium for clear, blemish-free skin
These two essentials promote cell regeneration and reduce acne.
Sources:
- Seafood, legumes, pumpkin seeds, seaweed.
- Brazil nuts (very rich in selenium).
Why is hydration crucial for skin?
Well-hydrated skin is more supple, brighter and regenerates better. Water helps remove toxins from tissues and prevents dry skin.
Hydrating waters and foods
- Mineral water: 1.5 to 2L per day to ensure good elimination of toxins and stock up on minerals.
- Infusions and herbal teas: based on detoxifying plants such as rosemary, dandelion, hibiscus, birch and nettle.
- Foods rich in water: Cucumber, watermelon, melon, radish, celery.
- Infused waters: lemon water, cucumber and mint water.
