Good Protein, a Quebec company shaking up the market

There's no shortage of protein powders on the shelves. But when it comes to judging flavor, texture or studying the ingredient list in more detail, for many products there's something of an aftertaste of "can do better". It was with this in mind that Quebecer Edward Lalonde worked tirelessly for several years to perfect the formula for Good Protein. Launched in 2019, with a growing following, the Montreal-based company has revolutionized the market by offering a product that combines great taste, nutrition and a texture that makes it easy and enjoyable to incorporate into one's daily routine.

"I had to test about 300 different pea protein samples from North America, Canada, the United States, Europe and China."Edward Lalonde tells Canadian Grocer.¹ "We had to use trial and error to find the one with the most neutral taste and the smoothest texture." A process that the entrepreneur has replicated for the rest of the ingredients: "It all started very modestly, in my kitchen, where I weighed and measured out ingredients on a small scale."

One thing led to another, and Good Protein won over consumers with a plant-based protein that comes in a number of must-have flavors: vanilla frappé, cookies and cream, chocolate fudge, peanut butter and salted caramel.

Reassured by the warm welcome and enthusiasm surrounding Good Protein, Edward Lalonde and his team of some fifty employees are working to complete the product offering. The most recent addition is a high-protein drink enriched with BCAAs, with a choice of two flavors: French vanilla and chocolate milk. "Our shakes are as healthy and complete as possible, but they're fun to drink, so you don't feel like you're straining yourself!" says Edward Lalonde in an interview with Best Health..²

The all-in-one protein drink is Good Protein's signature product.
