According to a study by the Harvard School of Public Health on avoidable causes of mortality, a low rate of omega-3 fatty acids arrives in 8th place! It shocks but it shouldn't surprise us. The Canadian diet is very low in omega-3. And this is why many health experts recommend that everyone, young and old, should take fish oil!

There are more than 7000 studies demonstrating the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids of fish oil. The two most common omega-3 fatty acids are EPA and DHA. They are both important but have different functions in the human body. Supplements with high EPA Fish oil offers support for heart health, mood balance and acts against inflammation. The DHA is important for supporting cognitive health and eye health. An additional Fish oil with high content guarantees that your body gets the good fats it needs to operate normally.

Norwegian super critical omegas provides more than 1000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per capsule. This is the ideal choice to get all the health benefits of fish oil in fewer capsules. For example, a single super critical omega capsule helps support cardiovascular, cognitive and general health. Two capsules are recommended for therapeutic treatment of triglycerides or to support mood. Another advantage of Norwegian super critical omegas: the 1000 vitamin D units in each capsule. Vitamin D is essential to help the development and maintenance of bones and teeth facilitating the absorption of calcium in the intestines. Canadians tend to have low vitamin D levels, and therefore, we recommend taking a vitamin D supplement, especially during the winter.

Norwegian gold fish oils are not ordinary fish oil supplements. One of the most common complaints in fish oil users is its fish's aftertaste. Norwegian gold fish oils are formulated to optimize digestion and absorption. Norwegian but the only fish oil that combines enteric coating over the capsule with lipase (the enzyme that digests lipids) in the capsule for increased absorption and to avoid rots with a fish taste. They are also encapsulated with fish gelatin, making them ideal for people with religious food restrictions and the growing number of piscivorous vegetarians.

While most people would have interest in taking supplements of fish oil, they should be avoided by people allergic to fish and crustaceans. People taking anticoagulants should consult their doctor before using fish oil since fish oil is a natural anticoagulant. You should also choose a product holding five stars IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) to make sure that it exceeds global standards of purity, power and freshness. Ifos is the only real independent certification program for fish oils, because when it comes to fish oil, quality counts!

Useful tip: When you choose a fish oil, always check the label to know the total amount of omega-3 fatty acids it contains, not only the total amount of fish oil in the capsule. For example, a capsule could contain 1,200 mg of fish oil but only 300 mg of EPA and DHA combined. Also, make sure that the omega-3 content is by capsule, not by portion, since certain products require up to 4 capsules per day to obtain an effective dose!
