Stress is virtually unavoidable in today's fast-paced lifestyle. It can trigger a hormonal cascade that depletes the body's nutrient and vitamin reserves.

However, solutions do exist to combat stress. Learn more about maca, an adaptogenic plant that tones the adrenal glands and enables our bodies to cope with both physical and mental stress. Manayupa is also recognized for its benefits.

Chronic stress

Chronic stress causes a continuous overproduction of these hormones, with no opportunity for rest and recuperation.

In general, our body is able to resist stress for a certain period of time by increasing its production to cover our needs. At this point, hormone levels are higher than usual.

Common symptoms of chronic stress / adrenal fatigue

Fatigue on waking

This is a highly characteristic symptom of impaired adrenal function.

Exhaustion after exercise

Most people logically feel better after exercise, which is not the case for people with adrenal fatigue.

Cold hands and feet

Although this sign may also reflect thyroid hypofunction, the role of the adrenal glands and body temperature should not be overlooked.

Hypersensitivity to environmental changes

This is another aspect of the inability to adapt to change.

Emotional hypersensitivity

Adrenal hormones regulate neurotransmitters and thus emotions.

Brain fog, concentration and memory problems

These too are linked to neurotransmitter imbalances. Excess cortisol also reduces the ability to store memories in the hippocampus, the brain's memory storage area.

Low blood pressure, dizziness, salt cravings

This function is regulated by the mineralocorticoid hormones secreted by the adrenal glands. A common symptom is dizziness on rising.

Hypoglycemia

Commonly known as "hunger". Cortisol is required to regulate blood sugar.

Maca, an adaptogen plant for regulating stress

Maca, also known as Peruvian ginseng, is packed with nutrients, including 7 B vitamins, 16 minerals, 20 free fatty acids, 18 amino acids, antioxidants and much more... Maca is an adaptogenic plant that tones the adrenal glands and enables our bodies to cope with both physical and mental stress.

Some benefits of maca

  • It is known to boost stamina (long-lasting energy)
  • Helps concentration
  • Helps balance hormones in both men and women
